"Cognitive behavioral therapy"

About: Sligo General Hospital / Emergency department Sligo General Hospital / Radiology Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

I was involved in a traffic accident when I was riding on my motorbike and a vehicle pulled out in front of me causing a collision. Aside from my injuries the accident directly affected many aspects of my life and basically turned my life upside down, I was feeling lost and unable to cope and decided to speak to my GP who put me in contact with the Mental Health Services in my area.

They contacted me without delay and after the first appointment concluded that I could benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy. I have been attending the program for the last few months and just completed my last session. I am very pleased with the results, the therapist was able to get to the bottom of what I was going through and find effective ways for me to get a grip on my life by developing ways to deal with a number of issues I was experiencing. I feel like things are coming together again and everything will eventually be alright.

I meet with service users and sometimes with their families. I assess psychological problems and provide psychological interventions in an effort to help service users overcome their difficulties.

Dear Kolkhoznikas,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of attending Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) with the Sligo Mental Health Service. It is really great that you found the treatment so beneficial in overcoming the difficulties you found yourself facing as a result of the traumatic road collision you experienced.

I have sent an email to all of the CBT therapists in the service and have no doubt they will find your story very encouraging.

May I wish you well and I hope 2017 is a very happy and peaceful year for you.

Kind regards,

Joanne
