Since coming to the Rehab and Recovery team in sligo, I have found that it has made a big difference in my life and has had a huge influence on my mental wellbeing.
Each morning I try to make the effort to walk into the base to collect my medicine myself, I find the walking helps my mental wellbeing, and being able to collect my medicine gives me a lot of independence. Some mornings when I am unable to come in to collect my medicine, I have security in knowing that one of the nurses from the team will call out to my house to check up on me. This makes one feel as though the nurses from the team are not just "doing a job" but rather that they genuienly care for each of their clients. I have made strong relationships with each member of the rehab and recovery team as I see them twice a day which I would not have as part of any other team. This means that I have built up trust with each member of the team and know that they have my best interest at heart.
The O. T has helped me every week with household tasks such as doing the shopping and cooking different meals. The Social worker also helps when there is something broken in my home that needs fixing, both of these have made a huge difference in my daily living.
I would just like to say a big thank you to all of the team, as each and every one of them has had an impact on my life and my recovery throughout my time with them.
