"We got our daughter back"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Adult Community Mental Health Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has various issues,  such as autism, partial blindness, and has been morbidly obese.

She started attending the eating disorder clinician Sligo, when she was at a particularly low state nearly two years ago.

Due to the kindness, understanding support and guidance given by Mary, she lost nearly 50lbs, became fitter and happier, we got our daughter back.

She improved to such a steady state she was able to be discharged.

Since then due to external circumstances out of her control, she started to spiral down, Mary’s response has been immediate and encouraging giving my daughter once again encouragement to pick herself up and regain her confidence and ability to cope with life.

Hi,

It is really heartening to hear that our eating disorders program and said staff have had such a positive impact on your daughter and your family's lives. We have invested significant recruitment, training and development within this service and it is fantastic to hear that our commitments to same are making a real difference to people's lives.

Thank you for your comments, I will pass these onto Mary and the Eating disorder team.

Regards

Tomas Murphy

Area Director of Nursing
