"Life experience"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

Cocaine.

This pale white line, became a friend of mine, it stole the light that used to shine.

From night to day, I have to say, it gave me strength, it brought me pain, it soaked up all the laughter in my life.

From day to night, I had to fight these demons that crawled out of the darkness and straight into my life.

A time of pain, a time of grief, nearly stole my life just like a thief which crawled in to my painful troubled world.

But now today, I have to say, I'm clean I'm sober I'm getting closer to getting back to the way I was before.

The weather's wetter but I'm feeling better this clean living is really giving me a better lease on life.

New doors open whilst others close, but happy to say I've got a clean nose and wouldn't go back to the way I was before.

Dear Griffindor666,

Thank you for posting this story of your journey of recovery from your cocaine use. We know that there has been a large increase in the number of people seeking help for their cocaine use across the country in recent years and it is now the 3rd most common drug reported in treatment in Ireland. I am glad to hear that you are starting to feel the benefits of quitting and wish you the very best in your recovery.

For supports for people with drug and alcohol issues available in Sligo / Leitrim please see below:
