"Nursing support good but no-one to greet me in reception"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Leitrim Adult Community Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

I have been receiving nursing support from the staff in Summerhill Lodge the last number of months whom I cannot thank enough for helping me on the road to recovery which at times I found very difficult. I have since started seeing a counsellor which is also helping me.

I just find it very strange that when I walk into the building there is no receptionist to inform  staff i'm here. On a few occasions, I have  been left standing waiting for someone to approach me and I find I become very anxious and agitated while waiting especially when others are in waiting area also. From speaking to other service users they would find this to be the same.

The care I'm getting from my nurse and her fellow colleagues always to be excellent and a great support to have in our community.

Dear Wells

Thank you for your positive feedback in relation to the nursing support you have received in Summerhill Lodge and the fact you are seeing a counsellor which is also helpful on your road to recovery. I will inform the staff of your comments.

In relation to your concern that there is no receptionist to inform staff you are present, I am sorry to hear that this can make you feel anxious and agitated. We have a sign at the reception area asking people to ring a bell and take a seat while a member of staff responds. In many instances the person whom you have an appointment with, will respond at the allocated time. However on occasions this may not be possible. I wish to assure you we are actively seeking recruitment of a receptionist and hope to have this position filled in the near future. This will ensure that you and other people are greeted at the reception area and staff are aware of your presence..

Finally I would like to wish you well on your road to recovery in the future and thank you once again for your feedback.

Regards

Denis
