"Sligo University Hospital and Holles Street Maternity Hospital"

Last year I went through an extremely difficult pregnancy and was under the care of Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Dr Langan in Sligo University Hospital and Professor McParland in Holles Street Maternity Hospital.  

Dr Langan and Professor McParland as well as a number of other staff in both hospitals guided myself and my husband with such care and professionalism throughout the pregnancy and labour and during the early weeks of my son’s life. The communication between all the medical staff, as well as social work departments, and secretarial staff in both hospitals was excellent and so reassuring to us during such an uncertain time in our lives. Everyone we met showed genuine concern and understanding.  

Thank you to all those people who helped us and I hope they get to read these words of appreciation. I know working in the public sector can be difficult as it is most often the problems with the health service that are highlighted within society. But there is so much good work being done also and I want to shine a light on that by sharing my experiences.  

I won’t remember everyone and am sure to forget some people. But thank you to Sligo University Hospital staff. Sheila my sonographer who journeyed with me and reassured me during every step during the pregnancy. Sheila, I cannot thank you enough. Thank you also to Niamh and Maria , and all the nurses in NICU (Joanne, Ann, Carmel and all the staff there). A particular thank you to Father Carroll who brought such kindness and much needed calmness during our journey. 

To all those in Holles Street; the team who work with Professor Mcpartland, the midwives (Christine and Therese who helped deliver my son), the wonderful social workers and all of the nurses in NICU. Thank you so very much.  

To everyone who treated and helped us in Sligo and Holles Street, Keep doing what you are doing. You do amazing work.  

By the way, my son, my little king is almost 5 months now. And he is doing great. X
