"Nothing like a hot cup of tea and laughing"

About: Donegal Mental Health Services Solas Donegal

(as a service user),

Before Solas I was on Prozac and rarely left the house.  My counsellor suggested the Solas Walking Group.  It was the best thing that happened to my mental health.  I look forward to the walks every week.  It’s a safe place where you can walk and talk and know you’re conversation will stay within the group.  I went from barely walking to walking 20,000 steps a day.  Through Solas I became part of the Wellness Cafe program.  I look forward to my Tuesday group.  Nothing like a hot cup of tea and laughing with others who show up.  It’s a much anticipated bit of craic.  I wish everyone could get the chance to be part of such programs.

Dear Mom of three,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of being a Solas participant. Care opinion provides us a opportunity to listen to people's experiences of our service, to gain a better understanding of what works best and any ideas for how we can improve. It is so heartening for me to hear such positive words and that Solas provides a sense of safety as well as laughter, and great to hear your progress with your daily walking!

I look forward to sharing your feedback with the team and like you I hope it encourages other people to take part in the programme also.

Keep up the good work,

Christina Greene

Programme co-ordinator, Solas Donegal
