My daughter tried to take her own life as she wasn’t in a good place and ended up in hospital to get pumped out. Thankfully she hadn’t damaged any organs and was ok to come home after a couple off days. She wasn’t ready to talk to any family member but really needed someone to talk to. My daughter didn’t want to go to camhs she said it was a waste off time as nobody had anything good to say about it.
Nearly 2 years later all I can say if it wasn’t for them I don’t know how things would have turned out, the change in my daughter in the past 2 years is night and day. Even little things like closing her door we aren’t worried what she is doing as we trust her and can’t believe the change in her. She has just finished with camhs last week as both herself and her councillor think she is ready and doesn’t need the help anymore.
We are so thankful that she got the help that she needed and she is in a much better place than she was 2 years ago. To all the staff in camhs Donegal u are doing a wonderful job and really do make the difference.
To anyone out there needing help give camhs a call it might be the most important call u ever make. The first step is the hardest but they have a great team that can give u the help that u need. Remember it’s good to talk.
Thanks to everyone from a very grateful father
