"Postnatal depression"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

I was struggling after having a new baby. I felt stressed, anxious and overwhelmed. I didn’t know where to turn or who to tell. I spoke to my husband and my mum and decided to ring my GP to seek help. My GP referred me to the Crisis Management Team. I was seen within an hour and assessed. They followed up with me every day for several weeks and helped me start on the right medication. I found it to be a huge support at such a low time. I was so glad to have reached out and got help.
