"My daughter"

About: Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Services

(as a parent/guardian),

Suicidal.. seen urgently by CAHMS.

Great support, help and guidance. Non judgemental and sympathetic towards daughter and ourselves as parents. Bernadeine and Jackie were extremely wonderful giving great help support and advice as parents but also as a couple in helping and supporting each other as well as our young family. Found all members and staff in CAHMS approachable and very kind, caring and friendly. As a family we were directed and helped to acess all supports in the community to aid in our daughters issues. Assessments and medical attention all provided or referred by CAHMS staff.. easing the stress and time on ourselves as parents.

Bernadeine and Jackie have always communicated effectively with us regarding our family, engaging every step of the way and directing us in the right direction of our difficult and challenging journey with family.

I will always be grateful and thank you CAHMS. A great service to have.

Dear Willowlol,

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience in CAMHS.

Firstly I want to apologise for the delay in responding to your story. As we are truly greatful for feedback we endeavor to respond as soon as as we can. Feedback helps us to reflect, learn and grow which is so important to us - so apologies again for the delayed response.

Your feedback really highlights the importance of working not only with the child or young person attending our service but also the wider family. Family work is something that is very important to our team in CAMHS and so often can be an integral part of positive outcomes for the children and young people we work with. I am so pleased to read about the positive experiences and meaningful supports you encountered from our clinicians Bernadine and Jackie as well as your experience of finding all staff kind caring and friendly. Our team works hard to try and ensure exactly what you describe - support "every step of the way," and it really is so encouraging for us to receive this feedback about our work.

Thank you to you and your family for your embracing all the supports CAMHS offered.

I wish you and your family all the best.

Máire Kelly

Clinical Coordinator
