Sligo Leitrim Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team were an amazing support to myself and my family when I went through first episode psychosis in late 2021/early 2022 and over the last 3 years. CBT helped me through the most difficult parts of my episode and helped me to process the whole experience and manage my anxiety and low moods that followed through my recovery.
With the help of Individual Placement Support I was gradually able to return to work over a number of months which helped get my routine back and in turn benefitted my recovery. The Eolas programme helped my parents understand what I was going through when I had psychosis and helped support them too. Behavioural Family Support also helped prepare us for my discharge from EIP, recognise my warning signs and prepare for the future.
My key worker also encouraged me to find social supports in the community which have helped me to meet people locally and develop new hobbies which have also helped in my recovery.
I can’t thank the team enough for helping us through this very difficult time and supporting me on this journey to recovery.
The only thing that could have been better was more information during the referral stage and communication during the early stages.
"Helped us through this very difficult time"
