"My daughters behaviour after being passed between services"

About: Independent sector / Ballymote FRC Family Therapeutic Services Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health Services

(as a parent/guardian),

We had been referred to Child Psychology twice and CAMHS twice over a 2 year period, each organisation claimed that the other was the appropriate service for my daughter.

Our daughters behaviour was just getting more concerning as the weeks and Months past so when the Play therapy at Ballymote Family Resource centre became an option we had nothing to lose but lots to gain.  The service was excellent, Eadaoin took her time and was able to peel back the layers gently to ensure our daughter was always comfortable and felt in a safe place.

Dear Sligo Mum2025,

I am sorry to hear you had a difficult experience with our CAMHS and Primary Care services for 2 years but am glad to hear your daughter found support at Ballymote Family Centre.

We are constantly working to improve our service and are aware that children being moved back and forth between services is a significant challenge for families. Our National Office for Child and Mental Health are actively working on a solution to this issue to prevent this happening in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback and I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind regards,

Eilis Peoples

Principal Social Worker CAMHS
