"Mullingar were very good to me in the end"

I was rushed to Mullingar hospital a week before Xmas 2012 they hadn't a clue what they were doing until I was able to tell them my history I have Spina Bifida but I'd previously had a bladder rupture and for the last 4 months had lost the ability to walk, this is when they acted. I was swimming in fluid but where from they didn't know. The next day I had emergency surgery to find a huge abscess as they called it in my pelvis causing the paralysis and a shattered appendix. I was later informed that if I was left 20 minutes longer I wouldn't be here to write this. I should have been in ITU there were no beds and I was also discharged 4 days later because they had the Noro virus. Whilst Mullingar that time were very good to me in the end they had previously failed to diagnose the reason for the leg paralysis even tho I was told I was very sick as had The Beaumont in Dublin. It appears to me that Doctors are under the impression that because you have a disability any illness or symptoms are related to this and nothing else, this is not the case. The health care system in this country is failing everyone but especially people like me. It's very sad. I am now 100% healthy according to my condition but my experience had damaged my confidence and my faith in the HSE
